Spinatia released around the same time as the first 30MS, while the later released Acerby models tied the two lines with additional compatible parts.
Spinatia, along with Spinatio, are the cat-eared mecha sized 'human like' sentient Maxion robot-mechs. They are highly individualized, mimicking jobs or roles, such as a soldier, samurai, ninja or in this case, a fantasy anime styled 'demon lord' with spiky armor and a huge axe.
Aesthetics:
The Spinatia Reaper type is a purple-on-lilac female-shaped mecha with black frame parts and a pinkish red transparent visor. The armor is a darker purple, with skirting, a wrap-around shoulder armor with a bat motif and wings, along with a face plate with a demon design that the transparent red peeks through, giving it an ominous look.
Mechanics/Compatibility:
The Reaper Type coincided with 30MS Neverlia, which uses much the same color scheme and bat theme, so you can easily mix the equipment on these two kits.
The Spinatia itself is a very simple or "light weight" 30MM style body, even moreso than the early Alto or Portanova models, with a more human-like silhouette and an oversized head with cat ears to make it cuter.
The smaller body means that the 3mm hard points are distributed differently and the front only has a chest and waist hole, while the rest are distributed on the back and sides of the model, giving it a sleeker front, but also less armor compatibility (knees and shins missing).
It uses the same Spinatio joint runner, so you can replace the shoulders to use shoulder armor, however this kit uses its wrap-around backpack as a replacement for those.
While the face plate isn't compatible with anything (not even Spinatio), the various armor parts and weapon are entirely compatible with the 30 Minutes Label franchise (as much as anything is, not accounting for clearance).
The armor can also be assembled as a companion flier unit when combined with some of the weapon parts. It wouldn't be Bandai if there wasn't a unique connection part, so the wings also have this slide-over-tab connector that I have no idea what might be compatible with, but the whole set mainly uses 3mm pegs and C-clips for articulation.
Overall, the backpack and wings are very modular with extra hard points and the possibility to rearrange parts into other configurations, especially when using additional 30MM parts. While it's not the most articulated wing assembly, it is one of the most versatile ones.
The Polearm uses blades with sideways pegs sandwiched in between two pieces onto a spear, which uses old style tiny square connector parts. The blades, or axe wings, can turn on an axis and shift into different looking shapes, like a two-headed axe, a stubby scythe or a pendulum blade. It can also wield the spear by itself.
Conclusion:
It's a great 'equipment kit' to pick up for kitbashing parts, that also looks perfectly fine on its own. I like Spinatia as stand-alone cat bots, while I prefer 30MS or Acerby as character models. Spinatia/Spinatio are also fitting little worker robots or mook enemies compared to the much larger 30MF Silhouettes, as simplified robots, versus the much more detailed sentient mechanical beings.
As mentioned it pairs well with 30MS Neverlia in theme and also in colors with the purple Type-E Acerby.
My 30MS Yufia, a knight themed sister, fell over and face planted my ESC key, deleting the first draft of this review. There may be a rivalry forming between these two models.
