From "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED DESTINY", the Akatsuki Gundam equipped with the Steller's Eagle is plated in three types of gold and turned into a RG figure!
■The multi-faceted shape of the Gundam makes the whole body shine, and the angle of light reflection is adjusted to express the glittering coating of the "Yata no Kagami".
■The Steller's Eagle's nose, hatch, beam cannon, etc. are deployed. Both wings can also move flexibly, and it can be reproduced when attached to the main body.
■By using some of the frame parts of the RG Strike Gundam, the same action is achieved.
■The shoulders have a pull-out mechanism to expand the range of motion. The hip joints can also be opened widely, allowing for bold poses.
■Equipped with a swing gimmick for the torso and a sliding gimmick for the armor on the arms and legs. It can be moved according to the pose.
■Equipped with a movable gimmick on the vernier on the top of the shoulders and the side of the legs.
■Realistic decals reproduce the markings on the whole body.
■Compatible with the separately sold "HG 1/144 Destiny Gundam Spec II & Zeus Silhouette", so the Zeus Silhouette can be attached.
*To attach the Zeus Silhouette, the "HG Zeus Silhouette Connection Parts" included with the "RG 1/144 Akatsuki Gundam Shiranui Pack & HG Zeus Silhouette Connection Parts" (sold separately) available at the Premium Bandai Hobby Online Shop are required.

Mega-cool Gundam

Gilded Relic: 2024 Bling on 2011 Bones

This is a 2024 kit using an outdated 2011 inner frame, for its legs, waist and arms. Thankfully it does not use the shoulders, hands, feet or torso. It also uses 10 parts from the 2011 F runner.
The result is an expensive, beautiful kit, with spongy legs and arms that will eventually loosen. It's embarrassing.
Is it a disaster? No. does it work? Arms can hold weapons and the legs are okay, but it's a lazy and bad choice that has consequence.

Aesthetics:
Akatsuki, in this form, means 'Dawn Break' or 'New Hope', and was an Orb nation super weapon. The golden reflective coating is how the mobile suit actually looks and is a weapon that reflects beams back at the shooters.

The plastics used are very pretty and include:
Gloss Yellow Gold - Gloss Rose Gold - Matte Rose Gold - Gloss Black - Gloss White - Gloss Metallic Red - Brown/Grey (inner frame)
There are zero metallic injection gold plastic parts, if anything, this thing is more premium than the MGEX Strike Freedom, were it not for the inner frame.

While most of the runners are undergated and most of the nub marks are well hidden, there are some that are visible around the model. The worst ones are actually on the gloss black under the knees, that become visible when the legs bend, and these marks are very hard to clean up.

The kit comes with the usual RG foil and decal sticker sheet - The sticker borders show up on the gold. Water-slide decal borders *also* show up on the gold, but less so.

Mechanics:
The articulation is mostly fine, apart from the weak hip connection, due to the old inner frame. The knees lift out and the thigh plate separates - Do not bend the legs before they are on the waist.
Hatches open on the shoulders, the cockpit opens and the vents on the calves lift up a little.
The backpack (Oowashi - 'Big Eagle') is a drone airplane that latches on as a backpack and the guns become F91 style hip rifles that open and extend handles for the hands.

Equipment:
1 double-ended Beam Saber Hilt - Can be pulled apart for dual wielding
2 broad/flat pink Beam Saber Effect Parts
1 Beam Rifle - Can equip the hilt as a bayonet. There is no sticker or foil for the camera - I used a green gem sticker from the PGU RX-78-2
1 Shield
7 Hands - 1 Rifle holding hand, 2 holding hands, 2 spread open hands, 2 fists - Also has MS-joint fists and articulated hands, but without back-hand armor
1 Action Base 7 (struggles to hold up the kit, is best for supporting it standing - For whatever reason the hole is in the waist so the whole thing tilts over. There is a hole for the Oowashi, but it gets covered by the thruster on the Akatsuki... idiotic design.)
There are no minifigs, Bandai seem to have stopped making these :(

Conclusion:
I'm impressed by the way Bandai have hidden and minimized most nub marks. The three different kind of golds look good and while they can be hard to tell apart, you can sometimes see it. The black, white and red all look great too.
It looks really good and even though I bought water-slide decals for it, I'm not sure I want to put them on. I'm not even sure I want to use all of the foils.
The problem is that I don't trust it enough to pose it. I don't like the way the arms and legs bend, at all, it feels wrong. I originally skipped buying this, one because it's very expensive, but two because of the old inner frame. It's not just a bad idea, it's honestly insulting, on top of the fantastic RG 2.0 that released right before this kit. It's not a bad kit, it's just a slightly disappointing one.
